British Airways update on UK airport Security
Last updated: 25 July 2008
Issued by British Airways: 17th August 2006:
As you will be aware, from Tuesday August 15, all UK airports have implemented the new hand baggage policy.
British Airways and other airlines have been instructed by the UK Department for Transport that customers departing from or transferring through UK airports will only be able to take on board as hand baggage one bag no bigger than 16cm x 35cm x 45cm, the size of a small laptop bag. This is to comply with the Department for Transport directive to ensure that bags can easily fit through the screening machines, providing a faster process to that of the larger trolley bag.
Below is a reminder of what can/can't be taken in your hand baggage:
Hand baggage must not contain:
· Any cosmetics
· Any toiletries
· Any liquids
· Any drinks
· Cigarette lighters
Hand baggage can contain the following:
· Electronic equipment, including laptops, mobile phones and portable music and DVD players
· Prescribed medicines in liquid form e.g. diabetic medicines
· Baby milk and liquid baby food (the contents of each bottle must be tasted by the parent)
Nothing must be carried in pockets.
