Sharjah is one of the emirates of the United Arab Emirates. The emirate covers 2,600 km² and has a population of over 800,000.
Sharja's climate ranges from pleasantly warm to very hot, with weather in the months November to April are the most pleasant. During the day temperatures range from 18 to 30 degrees Celsius and in the summer months temperatures reach a staggering 45 degrees.
Sharjah Desert Park
This fascinating museum is housed in an elegant building set in manicured gardens, next to the Science Museum near Cultural Sq. The displays, accompanied by audiovisual interpretations, cover the earliest archaeological finds in the emirate (dating from 5000 BC) up to the present day, including coins, jewellery, pottery and weapons.
Sharjah Art Museum
The museum is one of the UAE’s largest and most impressive galleries. Its permanent exhibition includes 18th- and 19th-century oil paintings, watercolours and lithographs from the ruling family’s collection; curators also mount changing shows of local and international contemporary talent.

Islam is the official religion; other religions are also respected. Ramadan: Ramadan is the holy month of fasting when Muslims abstain from eating, drinking and smoking during daylight hours. As a sign of respect, visitors are also required to refrain from these activities in public between sunrise and sunset.
The dress code in UAE is comparatively relaxed, but extremely revealing and inappropriate clothing may be considered offensive.
