Itinerary
2 nights Amman + 2 nights Petra & 3 nights Aqaba
Sunday
Depart from the UK for your flight to Amman. On arrival, you will be met
and transferred to your chosen hotel in Amman. Your 2 night stay will allow you time
to discover some of the interesting sites of the city including the Roman Amphitheatre
and the Citadel, as well as the surrounding areas such as Jerash, the best preserved
city of Roman times and Ajloun, where the 12th century Saracen Castle still stands.
Tuesday
After breakfast in Amman, drive south along the King’s Highway,
heading for Petra. En-route, visit Madaba, with the oldest known map of the Holyland
and its mosaic school, and Mount Nebo, the alleged burial site of Moses. Drive
through the magnificent scenery of Wadi Mujib to Kerak, visiting the Crusader castle,
before arriving in Petra.
Wednesday
Spend the day exploring the city carved out of the rose-red rock by
the Nabateans. Walk through the Siq, a narrow, winding gorge sliced between the
surrounding rock, reaching the Treasury, the Roman theatre and other fascinating
monuments.
Thursday
Transfer by road to the Red Sea resort of Aqaba. The chance to
explore the awesome moonlike landscapes of Wadi Rum, where ‘Lawrence of Arabia’
was filmed, is possible en-route.
Friday
Spend the next 2 days in Aqaba, taking time out to enjoy some glorious
weather, a host of water sports and traditional welcoming Jordanian hospitality.
Sunday
Transfer to Aqaba airport for your return flight to the UK (via Amman).
