Watersports

The Red Sea is one of the best places to scuba dive in the world. It is also an ideal location to gain your PADI diving qualifications. There is no better place to learn.

The Red Sea coast offers some wonderful diving spots. There is an abundance of marine life including the beatiful coral, amazing turtles, graceful dolphins, schools of lionfish, puffer fish napoleon and barracudas. For the casual diver, there are plenty of opportunities for sheltered and shallow dives. Visibility is generally more than 40 metres and the brightest colours are still visible at a depth of up to 15 metres.

In Taba Heights, we use the services of Red Sea Waterworld, a modern PADI Gold Palm dive centre offering a wide range of diving and water sports. Red Sea Waterworld started business in July 2000 at Taba Heights. The property is a purpose built 5 star water sports/diving and beach club, offering top class instruction and equipment with a reputation as high as anywhere that can be found in the world. The facility also offers a private beach, sports shop, restaurant and beach bar.

In Taba, we use the services of Aqua Sport, a PADI Golf Palm certified dive centre and ideally located for guests staying the Movenpick Resort Taba or the Sol y Mar Sea Star Taba. Aqua Sport was the first company to open a dive centre in the Middle East and has been established since 1962.

Red Sea Waterworld arranges a boat leaving every day to the sites of the northern Red Sea. The boat leaves from the Taba Heights marina, which is located 100 meters from Red Sea Waterworld in Taba Heights. All the tanks are carried and loaded for you, and your equipment is also transported to the boat. All you have to do is check that your equipment is on board before the dive guide gives the instructions to leaveOnce away from the jetty the dive guide will give you a briefing on the boat facilities and safety procedures. All boats carry DAN Oxygen Kits, First Aid kits, Radio, and a limited selection of spare dive gear and weights.

Diving in Taba is all done in areas where almost nobody has been diving before. Every dive discovers new varieties of corals and different types of fish. It is not a place where you will find spectacular walls or enormous reefs, but due to the relatively untouched areas there is enough to discover for the recreational diver.

Most of the areas where you will dive have a sandy bottom with several coral blocks. Ras Muqabella is the best dive site at present and exists of a shallow part with pinnacles and small fish down to a reef area from 12 meters sloping gradually down to 30 meters or more where you can encounter the unexpected bigger fish.

The area you will cover with the boat is from Farun / Pharaoh Island, which is 1 1/2 hours North by boat to Sudet Bay, which is 1 1/2 hours South.

The diving service includes tanks, weights and belt and the services of a dive guide to show you around the dive site. A private guide can be arranged if required.

Guests are picked up from their hotels by the bus at about 8am. It is then only a 10-15 minute drive to Red Sea Waterworld. Guests are also dropped off at their hotels at the end of the day, between 4-5pm.

Check in/equipment allocation is done at the Red Sea Waterworld (preferably the previous day), then a 2-minute walk to the boat. All tanks and clients' equipment is loaded by staff.

The boat leaves at around 08.30-9.30am, depending on the dive destination.

Clients need to bring towels, sunscreen and passports for all boat dives, together with 30 Egyptian Pounds for lunch (15 Egyptian Pounds if drinks only).

Introductory dives and check dives are done from the shore, in front of Red Sea Waterworld and at Marina B
