Holidays in Tucepi, Croatia

Four kilometres of well-kept pebbly shore, a short journey south from Makarska and delightful Mediterranean style white-washed buildings and houses, the small village of Tucepi was first settled 4,000 years ago by the Illyrians. Until the early 1960s, most inhabitants were living in hamlets at the foot of the mountain Biokovo. Tucepi is now a popular, modern tourist area for those looking for nature and naturally beautiful beaches and many visitors return year after year. The cultural attractive towns of Split and Dubrovnik are easily accessible by local busses or organised excursions. Famous for having the longest (3km) beach on the Makarska Riviera, numerous gastronomic restaurants, cute family-run konobas ('taverns') and rich heritage have secured Tucepi numerous awards over the years. There are many archeological sites and monuments well worth a visit; the little church of Sv. Juraj from the 13th century, an ancient stone-built fort overlooking the town and impressive tumuli. Tucepi is rich with natural water springs and abounds with vineyards and olive-groves.
