About Peltours
Peltours is an independent specialist holiday and travel tour operator. Established in 1920, Peltours was one of the first companies to offer British customers holidays to Egypt.
As a specialist, we believe that we must have excellent in-depth knowledge of all the resorts, hotels and regions that we offer. With this in mind, we ensure that our experienced reservations team have first-hand knowledge of all our Egypt holidays. If we do not know the answer to a query, we will endeavour to find someone who does even if that means sourcing it from our partners in Egypt.
Responsible Tourism
We promote the idea of responsible and sustainable tourism. With this in mind, Peltours Holidays employs overseas representative locally in the country we are flying passengers to. This means that the local people are benefiting from the tourism to the area, gaining employment and thus the local economy also see the benefits. We encourage all passengers to act in a sensible and thoughtful manner and this is particularly important when travelling to areas where natural resources may be fragile or endangered, for example, the Red Sea where coral is live and very important.
We recognise that we have a social and environmental responsibility to respect other people's places and ways of life. We therefore ask you to respect local cultures, their traditions, religions and built heritage; protect the environment, including the coral reefs; benefit the local communities by buying locally; minimise pollution by not throwing rubbish on the floor, by re-using towels and helping in any way that you can. We are also trying to reduce the number of brochures that we produce to reduce the amount of paper used. Thus we try to encourage the use of this website.
Throughout Egypt, Peltours Holidays employs the services of an Egyptian Agent, Travel Plus, employing local Egyptian people to represent Peltours and providing employment to the local people. This is a company policy thereby benefiting the local community.
The Coral Reef - Looking after it
The Red Sea is well known for its coral reefs and marine life. Taba Heights has some of the most beautiful and best preserved reefs in the area, and the resort aims to keep it that way.
As Taba Heights increases in popularity, protection of the reef has become a priority. The resort and its hotels have collectively resolved to sponsor and implement a mooring and buoy installation programme. The importance of these moorings is that they effectively prevent the throwing of anchors which would otherwise severely damage the living reef. With well placed moorings in each designated dive site, divers and snorkellers can appreciate the safety of a secure mooring while taking pleasure in an undamaged reef wall.
Coral is alive and will die when touched by humans. It is also very fragile and sharp, and can cut skin very easily. Live coral is rare and is therefore protected and must be respected.
Golf
The championship golf course is now opened. To ensure that the grass is well maintained and to meet the Taba Heights policy of environmental care, several miles of irrigation piping have been underlain. This is even more of an achievement bearing in mind that this piping has been produced by the resort's own recycling plant utilising discarded plastics from the hotels. The course's lakes provide a watery challenge while serving a double purpose as reservoirs. The water is actually treated wastewater filtered and cleaned at the resort's own water plant and mixed with fresh water drawn from deep natural desert wells. It is quite a remarkable feat, shows how Taba Heights is becoming self-sufficient as a development project.
